Árpád Göncz, first President of Republic of Hungary, former participant of the 1956 Revolution died on 6 October, 2015. He was also the founding member of the board of 1956 Institute Foundation in 1989. Mr. Göncz was interviewed on his life-course by András B. Hegedüs, first in 1985 and later in 1990, just after his election to President. Edited text of the lengthy interview is available here.

"Crimes of Communism" An international conference was held in Prague on February 24-6, 2010. The 1956 Institute was one of the co-organizers and cooperating partners in the conference. The organizers requested certain three national institutions to prepare national reports. The Hungarian report was prepared by János M. Rainer.
